Competency Assessment & Compliance

1 Purpose & Use of Assessment

1.1 The SSSCP Competency Assessment is designed to help individuals improve behaviours, establish best practices, and enhance competency within the construction and built environment sector.
1.2 The assessment follows the STAR(R) method (Situation, Task, Action, Result, Reflection) and provides candidates with personalised learning programmes based on their results.
1.3 The assessment is intended for self-improvement and professional development rather than a pass/fail recruitment tool.
1.4 The profile summary displayed publicly is a general competency overview, ensuring privacy while allowing recruitment decision-makers to verify key competencies.
1.5 By completing the assessment, SSSCP members agree that a summary of their assessment results will be included in their Profile Check, which may be accessed by Profile Checkers (e.g., recruiters, employers, or verifying parties).
1.6 SSSCP members may stop their membership at any time. When this happens, their SSSCP number will be archived, and access to their profile, Profile Check report, and associated data will be securely stored in the SSSCP system until the member chooses to renew their membership.
1.7 By ticking the box upon registration or renewal, members explicitly agree to these terms, including the use of their data in the Profile Check, excluding personal information such as their email address, telephone number, and date of birth.

2 Data Privacy & Confidentiality

2.1 Personalised Results & Learning Programme

  • Candidates receive individual email results after each assessment, including a personalised learning plan based on their STAR(R) benchmark.
  • SSSCP does not store individual responses, learning programmes, or detailed personal reports. Only the candidate has access to their personalised data.

2.2 Profile Visibility & Public Access

  • A general summary of the assessment results is displayed on the candidate’s Profile Check, ensuring transparency without revealing sensitive details.
  • The Profile Check is sent directly to Profile Checkers (e.g., recruiters, employers, or verifying parties) as part of the recruitment process.
  • SSSCP members explicitly consent to their summary data being part of their Profile Check.
  • SSSCP does not include personal details (such as email, phone number, or date of birth) in the Profile Check.
  • If a member stops their SSSCP membership, their Profile Check, profile data, and report will be archived and no longer visible to Profile Checkers or the public.
  •

3 Compliance & Fair Use

3.1 The competency assessment is conducted in line with:

  • Equality Act 2010 (ensuring non-discriminatory and accessible assessments).
  • General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) & Data Protection Act 2018 (ensuring lawful processing and confidentiality).
  • Employment Rights Act 1996 (ensuring transparency in competency verification).
  • British Psychological Society (BPS) Guidelines (ensuring validity, reliability, and fairness in behavioural assessments).

3.2 Candidate Rights & Data Control

  • Candidates retain full control over their personalised learning programme and results.
  • SSSCP does not share detailed results with third parties or recruiters—only a profile summary is visible.
  • Candidates can request corrections or clarifications regarding their Profile Check.
  • If a member stops their SSSCP membership, their data will be securely archived and no longer accessible to Profile Checkers or the public until they choose to renew.

3.3 Reasonable Adjustments

  • Candidates requiring accessibility modifications (e.g., alternative formats, extra time) must request these before taking the assessment.
  • SSSCP ensures fair testing conditions for all individuals.

Profile Checking, Membership Status & Liability

4.1 Use of Profile Check in Recruitment

  • The Profile Check acts as a competency verification summary that employers/recruiters may reference as part of their hiring process.
  • Profile Checkers (recruiters, employers) receive a direct email with the Profile Check upon verification.

4.2 Membership Archiving & Full Renewal Requirement

  • Members may stop their SSSCP membership at any time by submitting a formal request.
  • Once membership is stopped, their SSSCP number will be archived, and their profile, Profile Check, and associated data will be securely stored in the SSSCP system.
  • Any renewal of an archived SSSCP membership will require a full renewal process, including retaking all required assessments to ensure up-to-date competency verification.

4.3 Misuse & False Information Clause

  • If any member is found to have provided false information, misrepresented their SSSCP Profile Check results, or attempted to manipulate their competency record, their membership may be suspended or permanently revoked.
  • SSSCP reserves the right to audit and verify information to maintain the integrity of the assessment process.
  • Any attempts to use falsified results or mislead Profile Checkers will be reported to the relevant authorities or professional bodies where applicable.

4.4 Liability Disclaimer

  • SSSCP does not guarantee employment outcomes based on assessment results.
  • Employers/recruiters must make independent hiring decisions beyond the Profile Check summary.
  • SSSCP does not store or provide access to individual learning programmes or assessment reports beyond the general summary.

4.5 Assessment Updates & Improvements

  • SSSCP reserves the right to update the assessment structure to align with best practices, industry changes, and compliance updates.
  • Candidates will be notified of any major modifications affecting their Profile Check summary.
